Our Partnership with the Greenpac Mill Allows for Sustainable Packaging Solutions
Jamestown Container is committed to supplying sustainable packaging to our customers. All of our locations are provided with the ultimate in lightweight, recycled linerboard from the Greenpac Mill, located in Niagara Falls, NY. This state-of-the-art facility has one of the lowest amounts of paper mill landfill waste in the country and is the largest of its kind in North America.
Linerboard from the Greenpac Mill is the most eco-responsible linerboard on the market, created from recycled fibers and produced with the energy-efficient deconstruction of landfill wastes, making this product one of the strongest fully recycled linerboard products in North America. Using paper produced from the Greenpac Mill allows us to achieve maximum performance and strength without sacrificing sustainability.
What’s more, the Greenpac Mill operates without the use of fossil fuels. Instead, the Greenpac Mill uses steam generated by a nearby company — Covanta — as a reliable and renewable source of energy. Covanta then converts the mill’s recycling by-products into electricity, which is distributed to six other companies. All organizations involved in this loop help mitigate greenhouse gas emissions and protect the environment.
Our Commitment to Sustainability Doesn’t End There
Additionally, all of our paper suppliers are certified to either the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) and/or the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). That way, we know we’re providing the ultimate sustainable options for our clients. We also recover approximately 95% of the post-industrial corrugated waste generated during the manufacturing process. This waste is baled and returned to paper mills for recycling.
Energy-saving processes are integral to the Jamestown Container facilities, as well. Our maintenance team ensures that all new motor or drive units are optimized with high-efficiency options, which saves energy. Additionally, all of our powered forklift trucks are electric and non-polluting. Likewise, all of our manufacturing equipment has always been electricity driven.
